Michael Ganley
Founder/Director
The Fans Museum was set up by Sunderland-born Michael Ganley who amassed his vast collection of rare pieces of memorabilia over the course of thirty years and, 8 years ago, resigned from his job to follow his dream of establishing a museum in the city dedicated to the history of football and its fans. His dream was to make the museum accessible to everyone and give them a tactile experience of the memorabilia which covers the global aspects of the beautiful game. Michael has broken the mould of a traditional museum, allowing visitors to actually try on some of the items and match worn shirts of footballing legends.
