Oldest Living Sunderland Fan Birthday Celebration

Today Ernie Jones thought he was celebrating his birthday at the fans museum. We surprised him with standard bearers from Sunderland’s Armed Forces Network. Then, ex-SAFC skipper Kevin Ball passed on gifts and cut his birthday cake.

We couldn’t have arranged the surprise without assistance from Veterans in Crisis’s Ger Fowler, whose members are helping to get the museum spruced up before an anticipated opening this summer.

Additionally, we feel so proud to be a part of Ernie’s special day. It’s a sign of admiration for a legendary 102 year old football fan and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks to all who attended and again to Veterans in crisis, your work is greatly appreciated.
