SEND Prom Donations – A Big Thank You

The Fans Museum has been overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of people across Sunderland after launching an appeal to help SEND students enjoy a memorable Prom night this June.

After teaming up with Sunderland College, Fans Museum founder Michael Ganley offered to host the Prom free of charge to help ease the financial pressure many families face. Following an appeal for unwanted dresses and suits, the community responded in amazing fashion – with more than 100 outfits, along with tiaras, shoes and ties, donated so far.

One generous family even offered the use of their classic Shelby car for photos on the night, helping make the evening even more special for the students.

Michael said: “Sunderland’s generosity is just amazing. We really want to create memories for these students – which is what Fans Museum is all about.”

The Prom, taking place on June 25, will be the museum’s very first ball, adding to the many community events already hosted there. Huge thanks also go to businesses including Gentoo, Esh, Karbon Homes and Barclays for supporting the appeal and spreading the word.

What an incredible example of a city coming together to create a bright, unforgettable night for local young people and their families.
