Bobby Kerr’s Shirt Comes Home

Bobby Kerr’s Shirt Heads Back Home

In 1976, Sunderland AFC were crowned Division 2 Champions before embarking on a remarkable tour of Oceania and South East Asia, facing sides including Tahiti, New Zealand XI, Australia XI, Tasmania and Singapore.

During that tour, Bobby Kerr’s match-worn shirt was gifted to supporter Arty Starkey in Australia – beginning a journey that has spanned half a century.

Now, 50 years later, that very shirt is finally returning home.

A decade ago, the shirt was entrusted to Enrico Milani, founder of the Black Cats of Italy, and we are incredibly honoured that he has chosen to pass it on once more – this time back to the man who wore it with pride.

Next week at The Fans Museum, we will witness an emotional and historic moment as Bobby Kerr is reunited with his shirt. This will take place on Friday 24th April at 5pm at The Fans Museum before the Nottingham Forest game.
